NAD+ IV
The Correct Way to Administer IV NAD and the Importance of Oral Supplements: A Message from Your IV Bar Owner
As an IV bar owner, I’m committed to providing you with the most effective and honest treatments available. Recently, there has been a surge in the popularity of NAD+ IV therapy, and many IV lounges are promoting monthly NAD+ drips as the optimal approach. However, scientific evidence suggests that this method may not be as effective as it seems. Here, I’ll explain the correct way to administer IV NAD+ and why combining it with daily nicotinamide riboside (NR) supplements is essential for achieving the best results.
Understanding NAD+ IV Therapy
NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a critical coenzyme in the body that plays a vital role in energy production, DNA repair, and cellular health. Administering NAD+ intravenously can provide a rapid increase in blood NAD+ levels, leading to immediate but short-lived benefits.
The Procedure:
- Preparation: Ensure the IV solution contains the correct NAD+ concentration, typically ranging from 500 mg to 1000 mg.
- Administration: Slowly infuse the NAD+ over 1 to 4 hours. This slow infusion helps prevent potential side effects like nausea or discomfort.
- Hydration: Accompany the NAD+ with a saline solution to aid in proper hydration and absorption.
The Shortcoming of Monthly NAD+ IV Therapy
While monthly NAD+ IV sessions can provide a temporary boost in NAD+ levels, the effects are transient. NAD+ is rapidly metabolized and excreted from the body, which means that without ongoing supplementation, your NAD+ levels can quickly return to baseline.
Why Oral Supplements Like Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) Are Essential
Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) is a precursor to NAD+ that can be taken orally. When consumed, NR is converted into NAD+ within cells, providing a more consistent and sustained increase in NAD+ levels over time.
Benefits of Combining NAD+ IV with NR Supplements:
- Sustained NAD+ Levels: Daily NR supplementation ensures that NAD+ levels remain elevated between IV sessions, leading to continuous cellular support and energy production.
- Enhanced Efficacy: By maintaining higher NAD+ levels consistently, you maximize the therapeutic benefits, including improved cognitive function, enhanced physical performance, and better cellular repair mechanisms.
- Comprehensive Approach: Combining the immediate boost from IV therapy with the sustained support from oral supplements offers a holistic approach to NAD+ replenishment.
Our Honest Approach
At our IV bar, we prioritize your long-term health and well-being. Unlike other IV lounges that may recommend a monthly NAD+ drip as a standalone treatment, we advocate for a more effective strategy:
- Initial Loading Phase: Start with more frequent NAD+ IV sessions (2-3 times per week) for the first few weeks to build up your NAD+ levels.
- Maintenance Phase: Reduce to weekly or bi-weekly IV sessions while incorporating daily NR supplements to maintain elevated NAD+ levels.
- Ongoing Support: Offer guidance on diet, lifestyle, and additional supplements that can further enhance your NAD+ levels and overall health.
Conclusion
While NAD+ IV therapy can provide immediate benefits, its transient nature means that it must be complemented with daily oral supplements like NR to achieve consistent and lasting effects. By choosing our IV bar, you are opting for a scientifically-backed, comprehensive approach that prioritizes your long-term health. We believe in transparency and are dedicated to providing you with the best possible care and advice.

What Are The Benefits of NAD?
There are several benefits to using NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) regularly. This list covers just a handful of the known uses:
- Decreases cravings
- Promotes DNA repair
- Some studies have shown it to be preventative for cancer
- Protects liver
- Great for athletic recovery
- Fights against anxiety
- Hangover relief
- Helps decrease chronic fatigue
- Aids in slowing aging and increasing memory
- Increases chemical reactions that boost the metabolism (weight loss and energy)
- Increases blood flow
- Assists with mood disorders
- Helps improve Diabetes and Obesity
How is IV NAD+ Administered?
In order to get the maximum benefits of NAD, we offer a five-day infusion protocol. You will still benefit from any regular NAD infusion, however the 5 day infusion we offer may give you the greatest benifit. The 5 days can be completed within 10-12 days, however best results are achieved by completing the course within the prescribed time.
Day 1
250mg loading dose in a 1L bag of Normal Saline (NS) over 1.5 – 2 hours.
Day 2 – 5
500mg in a 1L bag of NS over 3.5 – 4 hours.
After Day 5
Once you’ve completed the initial infusion protocol, we suggest that you come back to receive booster infusions for maintenance.
How Long Do NAD Infusions Take?
Each person is different and their tolerance varies. While we set a baseline of the amount of time to take administering NAD, your level of tolerance to the infusion can allow the 250 and 500mg doses to be quicker than the baseline timetable.
Typical Length of Infusion By Dose
- 250mg – 500mg over 1 – 2 hours
- 500mg – 1000mg over 2 – 4 hours
In-Depth Review.
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide is a coenzyme in the body. it is found in every cell in the body and is responsible for energy creation. NAD+ assists with the function of the mitochondria which is the cell’s powerhouse. Without it, we would not be alive!
NAD is the fuel in the engine of our body. When someone uses substances such as Alcohol or opiates etc when used or abused, they start replacing NAD that the brain wants artificially, so when NAD is reintroduced into the body it begins to repair damage and detoxify the body. NAD can rapidly reduce the toxic effects of alcohol.
NAD+ enhances cellular energy, it also helps proteins such as PGC1 Alpha, this protein helps protect cells against oxidative stress that happens with life’s daily wear and tear.
NAD+ switches off genes of aging and improves the quality of life whilst aging. NAD+ has been called the key to healthy aging by assisting with repairing and healthy replication of DNA.
Increased levels of NAD will assist with physical and mental performance. NAD+ may also improve a person’s sleep.
NAD for Anti-Aging
NAD IV has been used for many years and is well-studied and understood in the medical community. As we age the amount of NAD in the body begins to drop. Our cells begin to become toxic and inflamed and that leads to cell aging and cell death. NAD assists the cell with clearing toxins and inflammation in the cell.
NAD has been used since the 1960s for alcohol and drug withdrawal and is being studied for Parkinson’s’ and Alzheimer’s disease.
NAD has been shown to reduce stress, depression, and anxiety, as well as detoxification for people who have been on chronic medications, alcohol, and drugs.
NAD also assists with mental clarity and focus, some of our clients report increased attention span.
NAD improves makers associated with metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cardiac issues, and insulin resistance.
NAD assists people who may have chronic fatigue syndrome. One of the issues with chronic fatigue is cellular toxicity and as stated above NAD+ assists with ridding the cell of those toxins.
NAD has anti-oxidant properties so in essence it works as an anti-inflammatory and increases the stress response in the body.
NAD is recommended to be combined with Glutathione to assist with detoxification and inflammation.
Supplement Recommendation to combine with NAD+.
- Vitamin B Complex
- CoEnzyme Q10
- Resveratrol
- NMN
- Nicotinamide Riboside (essential)
